What causes lash extensions to twist?
Let’s say it’s been about 2.5 weeks since your last lash fill and you’ve started to notice this one lash that keeps drooping over and just won’t stay in place. When you brush your lashes it feels like they are getting caught in the brush. If your lashes were properly applied (and they most definitely are if you’re one of our guests at Remedy 🤎) these lash struggles are probably due to a twisted lash. While you countdown the minutes until your next fill so your lash artist can work their lash magic let’s chat about what exactly causes your lash extensions to twist.
The cause is simple. As your natural lashes grow in length between lash fills, some extension becomes top heavy. The weight of the lash extension is now sitting and the tip of your natural lash opposed to at the base of the lash line where it was originally applied. That top-heavy weight from the extension is now twisting the follicle and straining the natural lash at the root. This is why it’s important to keep your lash fills scheduled between 2-3 weeks.
At your lash fill appointment, we will manually remove any lash extensions that have grown out and will replace them with a freshie and securely place the new extension back at the base where it belongs.
What can you do if your lashes are twisted?
If you notice a lash that is twisting but you have a few days until your fill try to gently wash your extensions and pat them dry and then bush them back in place. This could help to “untwist” the lash and help it to be more comfortable for you until your appointment. Try your absolute best to not aggressively brush your lashes. If you do this you will probably remove the natural lash and that is very damaging to the follicle.
Worst-case scenario, call us at Remedy and we will do our best to move your appointment up a few days so you don’t have to deal with that pesky twisted lash anymore!
