Five Changes to let your lash artist know about đź’¬

If lash retention changes drastically it may have something to do with internal changes you could be experiencing. This blog is going to deep dive into a list of changes you should be aware of so you can let your lash artist know.

01) STARTING, STOPPING, OR CHANGING BIRTH CONTROL

Hormone levels are bound to change in any of these cases. Your lash growth could look completely different and by letting us know about these changes we can take extra precautions. Slight adjustments to your overall lash style is a great way for us to keep your lashes protected from “extra weight” and unnecessary stress during this transition which will protect the integrity of your natural lashes.

02) MEDICATIONS THAT CAUSE SEVERE SKIN OR HAIR DRYNESS (EXAMPLE: ACCUTANE)

If you happen to be taking Accutane we might opt to make some changes while we are securing your bottom lashes down to help you stay comfortable. While taking Accutane your skin could become drier and we might opt for a different gel pad/ tape combination. We also would recommend avoiding a lash lift during this time so it’s important that we have the heads up about medications!

03) MENOPAUSE

There are a ton of changes going on during a transition to menopause. Commonly, lashes could become thinner during this time. Female health is a conversation to have with your lash artist so we can again make slight adjustments to your overall lash style in order to keep your lashes extra protected from “extra weight” and unnecessary stress.

04) Pregnancy, Fertility treatments, or about to stop breastfeeding

There is not a simple one size fits all rule regarding how pregnancy, fertility treatments, and breastfeeding impact a woman’s hormones, every woman can respond differently. There are hormonal changes happening at these times though it’s important to know that if your lashes are looking and responding differently it could be because of these hormonal changes.

It’s also a good thing to note that because of these changes lash lifts might not be as effective or that processing times need to be adjusted to longer or shorter times. As artists, we would absolutely recommend not having a lash lift treatment during the first trimester. The first trimester of pregnancy is often the period of time with most hormonal changes happening and many women are experiencing higher sensitivities during this period so we would not want to do a lash lift during this time for results and for safety.

05) Starting or stopping a lash serum

Lash serums are formulated to help improve the appearance of your natural lashes by giving the look of thicker, fuller, and longer lashes. When you start or stop using a lash serum your lashes will go through changes and as artists it’s good to be aware of this so if we notice those changes we can attribute it to the lash serum.
